about the founder…
Growing up in Albany as a first-generation Italian American, I was immersed in the hustle and heart of my family’s deli, Sainato’s Market. For over 50 years, it was a cornerstone of our community, a place where neighbors came together, and where I learned the value of connection and hard work. My sister and I spent countless hours there, from our childhood years to our college days, working weekends and evenings, surrounded by the warmth and energy of our family and customers. It was more than a business—it was a second home, a community hub, and the backdrop of countless life lessons.
While my family’s deli represented connection and joy, my personal journey was marked by profound challenges. At my lowest, I battled obesity, severe anxiety, and poor health, feeling trapped in a cycle that seemed impossible to break. I weighed over 300 pounds, struggled with eating disorders, and even lost my hair due to how unhealthy I had become. It was a time of profound isolation and despair, but it was also the catalyst for transformation.
In 2007, I made a pivotal decision: to rebuild my life. With the unwavering support of my family and the strength of my community, I embarked on a journey of healing and growth. I lost over 150 pounds, overcame my health challenges, and found a deeper sense of purpose. Along the way, I discovered that true transformation doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens through connection, support, and the courage to ask for help.
Seeking new experiences, I moved to New York City, where I spent over a decade embracing the vibrancy and diversity of urban life. It was a time of immense personal and professional growth, filled with challenges and triumphs. In the city, I met my husband, welcomed our son, and discovered my passion for empowering others. After years of city living, my family and I made the decision to return to Albany, reconnecting with my roots and the community that shaped me.
Back in Albany, I’ve devoted myself to creating spaces where connection and transformation thrive. As a speaker, mentor, and certified coach in functional nutrition, I’ve worked to help others overcome eating disorders, rediscover their health, and connect to a sense of purpose. My work as Co-Founder and President of the Impact Collective—a nonprofit dedicated to philanthropy and actionable community change—reflects my commitment to giving back and fostering community well-being.
